Shaastra 2017 – is the annual technical festival of the IIT Madras, Chennai, India. With an annual footfall of more than 40,000 visitors and participants, Shaastra is one of the biggest inter-college fests in Asia. It is the only student managed event in the world and the first ever festival to be ISO certified. Shaastra returns in its 18th edition, bringing with it an enriching experience of innovation, competition and learning!
Mark the four days from December 31st to January 3rd on your calendars, as Shaastra will keep you engrossed in a plethora of professional shows, competitions, lectures and workshops that have a lot to offer to everybody.
AUGMENT
We are pleased to announce the theme of Shaastra 2017: Augment! There are several instances where we feel that our abilities can be increased, and the technology is here to exponentially do just that. This year’s theme focuses on assistive technologies for the differently abled, virtual and augmented reality, exoskeletons and wearables, among other such concepts which will help us unlock new dimensions.

Formula DrOne
Shaastra 2017 is proud to present Formula DrOne, India’s first night Drone Racing Event in association with the Indian Drone Racing League.
FPV drone racing is a rapidly evolving modern sport capturing imaginations of tech enthusiasts worldwide. Imagine flying around in a Tron like world with neon light streaks and markers all around. Your field of view, like that of a rebel pilot in Star Wars whizzing through the action. This is kind of what it feels like to be a pilot in a drone race.
This Shaastra get immersed in a futuristic atmosphere with drones whizzing past you at over 100Km/Hr in one of the most complicated race circuits ever built. Get ready to feel the ‘a-drone-aline’ rush this New Year as you watch India’s top pilots battle it out for ultimate glory!

ACCESSIBILITY SUMMIT
Shaastra will be organizing and conducting the Accessibility Summit, to address this almost unnoticed issue in India. The Summit will attempt to remove limitations, tap opportunities and expand various important spheres to accommodate all.
The International Accessibility Summit of Shaastra 2017, IIT Madras, a 4 day-long event to be held between 31st December, 2016 to 3rd January, 2017, is a platform for multiple stakeholders in the field of Accessibility and Assistive Technology to come together and share their knowledge.
