Deepinder Goyal & Pankaj Chaddah | Co-Founders, Zomato


Each one of us is aware of what Zomato is and what it does. And if you aren’t, then here’s what you need to know about the company and its founders.

Started in July 2008, as a part time hobby to help people of Delhi NCR to find out on their favorite food being offered by which restaurant and what price, Zomato entered into talks with many private equity and strategic investors from around the world, and expanded overseas at a scorching speed. From mere paranthawalas to swanky food joints, Zomato has it all, be it reviews and ratings, menus, pictures, maps and contacts of various restaurants.

This Godzilla of a foodie app was founded by Deepinder (Integrated Masters in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi) and Pankaj (Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi).


Arunabh Kumar | Founder, TVF


The Viral Fever, popularly known as TVF, is the brain child of Arunabh Kumar and took birth in the year 2010. A master degree holder in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, Arunabh had always an inclination for theater and direction. Before starting TVF, he had worked as an assistant director of the movie Om Shanti Om. TVF has occupied a special position in the hearts of Indian youth by the fantastic drama series like “Permanent Roommate”, “TVF Pitchers” etc.


Sachin Bansal & Binny Bansal | Co-Founders, Flipkart


No wonder Flipkart is the name which deserves to be in the list under this section. After quitting, Sachin and Binny, both alumni of IIT Delhi co-founded Flipkart in 2007. Started as an online bookselling portal, Flipkart now covers wide variety of products. Within a very short span of time Flipkart grew up exponentially and employs more than 30,000 people.


Rahul Yadav & group | Co-Founders, Housing


A half engineer, Rahul Yadav, known as “bad boy of Indian Startups”, along with his eleven other co-founders started in the year 2012. Though Yadav went through lot of controversies in recent time and forced to quit; due to its fantastic business model was able to raise lot of fund initially. This Mumbai based real estate search portal now finds its existence in more than 50 cities in India. The portal allows the customers to search for housing based on gephy, number of rooms, budget and various other filters.


Pranay Chulet | Founder, Quikr


Pranay has a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MBA degree from IIM Calcutta. He founded Quikr in 2008. Quikr provides an online classified advertising platform for users to buy or sell goods and services from each other. Quikr provides its services in over 1000 cities in India in categories such as mobile phones, household goods, cars etc.


Nirav Sanghvi | Founder, Blogadda

Blogadda was started in 2007 and from there it has grown to become the largest community of bloggers in India. It is a platform for bloggers to connect with each other, showcase their blogs and participate in interesting activities. The Adda has given writers various avenues to introduce their blogs to a large audience and interact with their readers. Nirav, the founder of Blogadd has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics from RAIT, University of Mumbai.


Sumit Jain, Jinesh Bagadia, Kashyap Matani and Tumul Buch | Co-Founders, StupidSid

Stupidsid started off in February 2010 as a college review website that offers students’ opinions on everything you have to know about colleges, courses and universities. Over time, it generated an extensive pool of content that helps students throughout their undergraduate journey. All the co-founders of StupidSid are batch mates and have Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from D.J. Sanghvi College of Engineering.


Adhil Shetty & group | Co-Founders, Bankbazaar

Bankbazaar is a leading online financial services website offering instant rate quotes on loans, credit cards, savings and insurance products, and is in partnership with leading financial institutions in India including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, CITI, Standard Chartered, PNB HFL, LIC HFL, DHFL, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and others. Adhil, the founder of Bankbazaar, has a BE degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Anna University.


Vijay Shekhar Sharma | Founder, Paytm


Paytm, a Noida based company, is one of the India’s largest recharge and bill payment portal, started by Vijay Shekhar Sharma in the year 2010. Though recently Paytm has entered into e-commerce sector like Flipkart and started selling product on wide range of categories, it is mostly popular for mobile recharge. Vijay, the founder, has a B.E. degree from Delhi College of Engineering.


Bhavish Aggarwal & Ankit Bhati | Co-Founders, Ola Cab


OlaCabs, commonly known as Ola, is an Indian transportation network company. It was founded on 3 December 2010. The company has expanded to a network of more than 200,000 cars across 85 cities. Ola provides different types of cab service ranging from economic to luxury travel. Bhavish, the CEO of Ola has a B.Tech degree in Computer Science Engineering from IIT Bombay. Ankit, the CTO of Ola has a B.Tech as well as M.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
